Financial goals
Alright, we’re almost through January and now it is time to make sure we are on track for our goals this year. It will soon be time to file taxes and we will be seeing our year-end statements coming in the mail. If it is not exciting to look back at your 2009 statements and you want 2010 statements to look much better, we can help with that.
Gather all of your financial information from 2009. Take a look at what your net income was at this time last year and compare to what it is now. Analyze the situation you are in and make a financial goal of where you want to be this time next January. No matter what you think of that goal, it is attainable.
We have a home buying tour coming up very quickly. We will be in San Diego March 25, 26, 27, and 28 and will definitely be able to show you how to reach your financial goals through real estate investing by the end of these four days. Time for a vacation
How long has it been since you’ve taken vacation? If it’s been too long, what are the reasons?
There are many benefits to getting away, especially in the winter season. Getting out of the gloom and going somewhere sunny and warm is always enjoyable. A State University of New York survey discovered that men who took annual vacations reduced risk of death by 20%. A study by Wisconsin Medical Journal found that women who took frequent vacations were less likely to become depressed, tense, or even tired.
On the topic of vacations, we have a great vacation suggestion for you. We will be in San Diego, CA March 25-28, 2010 for our Buying Tour. Get away from the gloom and get into some sunshine while learning how to be successful in real estate. Follow the link below for more information.
Hope to see you there!

Enough looking back, time to look forward.
Here is what we have seen in 2009: governments are failing because of financial crisis, Iceland has collapsed and Ireland soon to follow, national unemployment rate remains in the double digits. This year has been filled with catastrophe.
Here is something positive: mass layoff events decreased to their lowest levels since July 2008. So we can say that there has been one improvement.
The art of restraint is still lacking in regards to bankers. On Wall Street, the top six banks will be paying out $150 billion in bonuses. Anyone laugh at that number besides me? Leading way is Goldman which will be paying out $22 billion in extra compensation this year. JPMorgan has put aside $29.1 billion with Wells Fargo spending $26.3 billion this year. All of this to keep their employees happy, yet their customers are not.
Bright side, bank executives have made a promise to do better with their regulation matters. Executives have cited a “disconnect” between their support for regulation and the fact their lobbyists were pushing for as little new regulation as possible. Fun fact: this “disconnect” cost the financial sector $334 million so far in 2009 in order to pay for some 2600 lobbyists they hired to fight AGAINST any and every form of regulation.
Lloyd Blankfein (Goldman) said he was sorry about his firm’s role in the financial crisis. “We participated in things that were clearly wrong and have reason to regret, we apologize.” Firm is floating on $43 billion of total subsidies including FDIC guarantees for debt it raised, that were supposed to aid consumer oriented banks; nothing was noted about being sorry for that. Also, he didn’t seem sorry for leading the way with bonuses this year.
So, now what? I am optimistic and I know my future is in my control. This next year will be an adjustment for all of us. But, we live through it. For some of us, the future will never be easy. I will continue to stay focused and will continue to strive towards my own vision.
Here’s what lies ahead: shortly (within the next 10 years or so) most will be able to access high speed internet for cheap cheap cheap and the connection rates will greatly surpass what we currently have. Energy crisis, oil crisis will be in the past. As we drive around in our electric cars that have power sources that are not oil-based, we won’t care or have to care about energy problems or running out of oil. 20 years ago, thousands and thousands of businesses that are currently around, would not have been able to exist.
We all have dreams. With all of the changes we have seen over the last decade, we know that there is so much to come which can make us optimistic about fulfilling our dreams. We are in a world of accelerating change which is an exciting thing.
2010 is an exciting time in human history and we are living it. Even through the struggles we see daily, we are on the verge of changes that may create challenges for some of us, but we must be positive about being along for the ride. I wish for you to have a Happy New Year and hope you continue to hold onto your dreams.
How are you choosing to bring in the New Year?
“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on,
with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.”
- Hal Borland-
How many New Year’s Resolutions have you made in the past? How many have you kept and fulfilled? Let me help you make 2010 the year where you achieve your goals you set for yourself, and how about you not only achieve them, but exceed your goals.
How great do we feel when we achieve a goal? Can you imagine the feeling this year you will have when you exceed your goals? Today’s society has become accustomed to sliding by with no goals in mind to challenge themselves in their day-to-day life. People are satisfied with the minimum.
“It’s never crowded along the extra mile.”
- Wayne Dyer –
When a restaurant or a business goes the extra mile and provides exceptional service, we appreciate it and then we begin to expect that from every restaurant. If we start to expect this from others, why not expect it from ourselves. We need to become someone who goes the extra mile as a daily habit. Don’t be ok with losing five pounds when your goal was ten, or meeting your sales goals when you could be exceeding them. Going the extra mile in life will pay off now and down the road.
“When you are willing to do more than you are paid to do,
eventually you will be paid to do more than you do.”
- Unknown –
Let’s make one of our goals for 2010 to be to daily look for ways to go the extra mile. We are all living in a time of economic struggle. Make this year the year you beat all of the statistics by choosing to thrive in the economy. This may seem like an unrealistic goal however, this is something I have achieved and everyone else can do the same.

Ways to Make Extra Money In Your Niche
First, do you have a niche market?
The marketing guru, Dan Kennedy once said, “There are riches in niches.” So where do you go to find your niche?
I recommend watching the market, then jumping in when you see a demand. Let’s take real estate for example. There are lots of ways to make extra money. You could be a Realtor & sell houses; specialize in selling retirement properties; land; rental properties; commercial properties; foreclosures; shortsales; lakefront property; condos; etc. Lots of niches to choose from = lots of ways to make money!
Look at current market trends. Right now foreclosures are huge. Because of the sub-prime crash, foreclosures are becoming a dime a dozen, and as the market continues its trend, you’ll soon be able to buy a dozen for the seemingly low price of a dime—if you know how to work it properly.
Focusing on a specific market niche, like foreclosures or pre-foreclosures, allow you clarity & focus, where many competitors do a little of everything. If you’re not focused, your scattered. Focusing on a niche will allow you to make extra money where most are missing out. Investors who can’t hack it will move out of the way, which ensures you enough room to grow and prosper without the headache of competitors.
This is how a self-made millionaire star is born… by looking for a niche and then claiming it as their own...
